iGNet Plus sends and receives subject profile records between iTrak systems via encrypted email. The email message includes an attachment containing the subject profile and any incident ban details.
On the receiving end, the iGNet Plus Console reads the incoming mailbox (defined in the iGNet Plus settings) and parses the attachment to update the local iTrak database.
Each company must be licensed for iGNet Plus and have their iGNet Plus settings configured with a dedicated email account that is only used by iGNet Plus for communication with other iTrak systems. The email server of this account should support the SMTP protocol for outgoing emails and IMAP for incoming emails.
To configure your own iGNet Plus settings:
1. Choose Tools » Global Settings » iGNet Plus.
2. Enter the User Information settings:
o Specify an iGNet ID for your company. This identifier allows other companies that have an iGNet Plus connection with your company to identify the iGNet Plus contact.
o A unique 3-letter iGNet Prefix is assigned automatically and is attached to any incident number associated to subject profiles that are sent to other companies through iGNet Plus.
o Enter the login information of the dedicated email account that will be used with your iGNet Plus system in the remaining fields in this section.
2. Enter the Outgoing and Incoming server domain and port.
3. The Incoming Server checks for new messages every 10 minutes; if desired, change the Frequency to check received email in minutes.
4. Use the buttons to validate the configuration.
5. Click OK.
CAUTION
The fields in the iGNet Key Management section are set up automatically
by the system — DO NOT click
Refresh Key during the initial
configuration.
The Refresh Key button should only
be used when the current key is known or suspected to no longer be secure
and there is the possibility that someone has compromised the private
key.
Refreshing the public key will disable all existing iGNet Plus contacts,
effectively preventing you from sharing subject information. Each iGNet
Plus contact will have to be re-established.
Once you have configured your own iGNet Plus settings, you must set up an iGNet Plus contact for each system that you want to share with.
